TLEA recognises the importance of the unique natural resource we have access to. We see our role as stewards of this valuable mineral, to utilise our technology and capabilities in a way that supports a green energy future.

What

Our innovative plant manufactures battery-grade lithium hydroxide from spodumene mined and concentrated at our Talison Lithium mine, in Greenbushes, WA. Recognised as the largest, highest-grade hard rock lithium deposit in the world, we use the whole product, also producing by-products aluminosilicate, gyplime, and sodium sulphate, which are then utilised in other markets.

Where

TLEA is a joint venture that stretches from China to Western Australia. With our roots firmly in WA soil, you’ll find our operations at the Talison Lithium mine in Greenbushes, and our refinery in Kwinana. We then supply critical lithium hydroxide to the world’s battery supply chain, with the entirety of our product making its way to customers across Asia and Europe.

Why

We’re committed to utilising our lithium resources to reduce the risks and impact of climate change. Our vital operations play an important part in the global rechargeable battery supply chain, providing materials that enable the decarbonisation of the transport sector by replacing emissions-heavy internal combustion engine vehicles with battery-powered electric vehicles.

How

Our fully automated Kwinana lithium hydroxide refinery is one of the biggest and most advanced lithium processing plants in the world. A cutting-edge operation, it has been built to meet the exacting battery-grade specifications that our customers require now, and in the future. The manufacturing process takes raw spodumene, filtering out impurities and other materials to create some of the highest-grade lithium available today.

But we don’t stop there. Our Kwinana plant has been specifically designed to produce non-lithium products derived from the spodumene ore concentrate, which can be used in a range of other markets, creating a truly sustainable production process.
