As part of our commitment to creating a greener future, TLEA has pioneered sustainable production methods that allow us to utilise the whole of the spodumene we extract. Our lithium hydroxide is shipped to customers all over the world, while the byproducts from our operations, Tianqi aluminosilicate (TAS), gyplime, and sodium sulphate, are repurposed and supplied to a range of different industries in Australia.

It’s not just the battery market: our Tianqi aluminosilicate (TAS) is used in the construction industry as cement, our gyplime is used in the agricultural industry, and the sodium sulphate we produce supports various industries. This enables us to contribute to a circular economy, while working towards our mission of changing the world with lithium.

Markets

Asia

TLEA supplies critical lithium hydroxide to the world’s battery supply chain. A large part of our product is exported to Asia, for use in the electric vehicle market outside of China.

Europe

We are proud to have commenced export with partners in Europe, further enabling the continent’s move away from fossil fuels and supporting its swiftly growing battery and electric vehicle market.

Products

We’re working to create a more sustainable future. To achieve this, our Kwinana plant produces non-lithium products, with the aim of utilising the entirety of what we extract from the earth. As well as lithium hydroxide, our Kwinana plant  produces three non-lithium products: Tianqi aluminosilicate (TAS), gyplime, and sodium sulphate.

Lithium Hydroxide

Our world-leading lithium hydroxide refinery produces battery-grade lithium, mined from our very own Talison Lithium mine in Greenbushes. We’re the first in Australia to do it, and with a planned annual production capacity of 48,000 tonnes from two trains, we’re proud to be pioneering the Australian lithium industry.

Tianqi Aluminosilicate

Our Tianqi aluminosilicate (TAS) is able to be used as a replacement for cement in concrete, in the production of retaining blocks and in mining applications to stabilise underground mining voids. This works towards our commitment of reducing carbon emissions, not just for our company, but also in construction industry applications.

Gyplime

The gyplime we produce is supplied to the local farming industry. Gyplime helps to increase soil pH, making the nutrients in the soil more available for plant growth, which increases harvest yields.

Sodium Sulphate

Our sodium sulphate is used in a range of different applications, such as washing powder detergents, glass making, and dying textiles — which ensures we derive maximum benefit from the non-renewable spodumene resource.
